Soundproof curtain
The soundproof curtain, also called acoustic curtain, is used to absorb sound and noise in theaters, discos, bars, factory halls, concert halls or churches.
A well-known example is the soundproof curtain in a theater: During a break, a soundproof curtain is lowered behind the main curtain to prevent any noise from entering the auditorium. It thus reduces noise and absorbs unwanted sounds. A good soundproof curtain can also work wonders in offices or concert halls: When used correctly, a soundproof curtain improves the sound in the room, making spoken words more audible.
A variety of materials are used in the production of the curtains. Rabenring uses Molton and Kalmuk for the acoustic curtains you can purchase. Kalmuk is a particularly heavy Molton fabric. The high-quality soundproof curtains from our shop are made from several layers of Molton fabric, with plastic film or Kalmuk sewn in between, depending on requirements. This gives Rabenring acoustic curtains the best acoustic properties.
What noise can an acoustic curtain reduce?
A soundproof curtain can effectively reduce high and medium frequencies (e.g., speech noise, such as that found in schools, kindergartens, or sports halls). Traffic noise that enters through old or open doors and windows can also be reduced with the help of soundproof curtains.
If modern windows and doors are already installed, soundproof curtains won't significantly improve the noise. The disturbing noise is likely to be low-frequency. Generally speaking, this noise, like the roar of jackhammers, aircraft turbines, or trucks, can only be slightly reduced by purchasing an acoustic curtain.
What material does Rabenring use to make acoustic curtains?
Our soundproof curtains are made from several layers of high-quality felt, Kalmuk, or Akutex, with a layer of plastic film sewn between them. Naturally, we only use high-quality stage felt for our curtains. This is available in 10 different colors. With Akutex, you can choose from five colors.
In which colors are soundproof curtains available at Rabenring?
We offer our molleton fabrics in the qualities of stage molleton and, if required, stage velvet CS. This results in numerous single-color or two-color combinations in which you can purchase a soundproof curtain from us.
Is a noise protection curtain fireproof?
Yes, all our curtains are treated according to DIN 4102 B1 and are therefore flame-retardant.
Is an acoustic curtain suitable for soundproofing in a music room?
Musicians often have to practice at home and, as a result, often have problems with annoyed neighbors. Structural measures should be the first choice for external soundproofing. If these aren't possible, acoustic curtains are a suitable alternative to reduce sound escaping through windows or doors. Please keep in mind, however, that ceilings and floors also transmit sound. Low frequencies are particularly tricky and can only be controlled with considerable effort. Materials such as Noiseflex, acoustic fleece, or Akutex are particularly suitable for soundproofing walls and ceilings.
Is an acoustic curtain washable?
Due to the treatment according to DIN 4102 B1, cotton curtains cannot be washed, as this will result in their flame retardancy being lost. Akutex curtains can be hand-washed at a maximum of 30°C.
